terrence dixon is the man behind sporadic production alias population one, serving up dark and heavy, intense and ravey records for classic labels like utensil only occasionally. as such, delsins re-issue arm (following on from dan curtin, mk and luke slater titles) has sought to get some of the old tracks out there once again on this double a side 10inch outing with midnight hours (first on detroit: beyond the third wave lp from 1996) and two sides to every story (from an ep of the same name on metroplex, also in 1996).

live percussionist turned dj/producer, rafael moraes, first made a name for himself in the brazilian house scene when he took command of the radio program beats eldorado a platform upon which he was able to showcase his aptitude for mixing genres of modern electronic music.

mussurunga - that is the name which is used by the complete body inked cousins sigi aigner and didi bruckmayr for their outstanding performances on club dance-parties, festivals, free-parties and weddings in the home- and foreign-countries since more than two years. at their shows they use deep bass-lines, demanding beats, gentle hooklines and raging 3-d objects. the large sized mr. state-opera-chorister aigner and the dwarfish universal-bush-leaguer dr. bruckmayr also are known for their benedictional work with the performance-group fuckhead, for them they count as finded minds. mussurunga is a frowing suburb of the brazilian provincial capital salvador da bahia, which aigner and bruckmay vistied job related. while one of them waited without success for a date in mussurunga and spent all the spondulix which was meant for the taxi, the other one worked very hard in the regional beach-bars on artistic concepts. the result of this jobshare is, among other things, the present ep.

nice price deal !!! borngräber & strüvers latest album represents a unique selection of chamber music compositions created in the period of 2000 through 2012. this denotes a new facet in the musical cosmos of the berliner duo, combining influences in the range of minimal music, classic and baroque, as well as the art of improvisation and pop culture. clouds can be considered as an album for fans of richard skelton, the caretaker and christian naujoks, but its distinctive work manages to reach a far wider audience. the album begins with the piece wellen (waves) for soprano and strings. the music is arranged and composed in a sort of wavy-shape, as the title suggests. it is a piece in the purest form of minimalism: without an end, without a beginning. the following track mobile pays homage to richard strauss don quixote, as musical parts and constantly changing atmospheres reconcile to create a sense of movement and mobility. last but not least, secret bells represents an instant composition as charles mingus would say, combining piano works and field recordings. clouds 1-3 were written for a virtual chamber orchestra and join together to give the album its leading name. these >clouds< differentiate themselves trough stylistic influences, ranging from classical to the latest in music.

michael ozone, the character whos just dropped his debut offering for the esp institute this july, is back with a remixed version of his jungle-tuff >perfect systems ep<. on side a, steve summers (a name thats been up in your face over the last year, and one of the key figures in our cousins l.i.e.s. camp) has taken perfect systems for an imperfect ride, jacking it up as expected while keeping the somewhat sinister mood of the original. on the flip, young marco (who has become quite a resident at the esp institute) strips down hetrotopia to its core, letting you realize how a well-programmed track can maintain its melodic and hypnotic sense, even when all thats left is percussion.

bastille days is heavy rolling stuff. its earth-moving kick drum impresses, but its the trademark technasia synth that really takes the track to another level. this is after all the soundtrack to a revolution. the beats remain heavy on the flip, sunkiss and belying its name, the track rolls out its tribal drums and crashing hats. perfect for the summer floors. enjoy!

ziros debut release aims squarely for the dark heart of the dancefloor. punishing 4x4 kicks ride thunderous, swollen basslines to devastating effect. its an astonishingly simple formula but it serves as a bold statement of intent from the young producer. early support from the likes of mosca and brackles on rinse fm and bbc radio 1 saw ziro invited to record a guest mix for mary anne hobbs xfm show back in january - a significant feat for a producer with no releases to his name. backing up the title tracks, a stunning, hypnotic remix from man of the moment om unit flips oni on its head, wrongspeed style.

the name of the track is tiefblau and it speaks for itself: you are transported by a pushing, bass-generated pressure capsule down along a hypnotic groove line and into a deep blue ocean. the smalltown collective really exploit the merits of the acoustic stage here, pulling together a compelling and diverse set of notes and tones carefully arranged to amount to a track you just cant shake.
in his interpretation, dj le roi stays true and to the deepest blue dive atmosphere of tiefblau, yet manages to make it completely his own. unmistakably tieflblau, unmistakably le roi.

dear you, so why am i starting a label? i guess i am trying to centralize my output. give it all some kind of unity. my friend jon berry (who works at kompakt and is running the label with me) has been bugging me for ages to do it and now seems the time. i ve had a great run thus far with all my buddy s labels, and i dont think i will stop as long as they still want me. but for the time being it made sense somehow that i do my own thing. give it a name - maybe tomorrow - and a face - vinyl.

a dj since 93. a producer since 98. a true student of the music/culture. amir founded vanguard sound in february 2006. after making his presence felt in the chicago club scene via a meteoric rise culminating a dj watch feature in chicagos 5 magazine, he completely disappeared and went beneath the underground to focus solely on advancing his production skills. soon after linking up with g. marcell and hakim murphy he began to release gritty tracks that have been charted and played by underground djs world wide. his fourth release was the sleeper classic >experience ep< a 4 tracker with amir on side a, and g. marcell on side b. encouraged by the feedback, amir then submitted tracks to new york citys plan b recordings. the rest is history as they say. recording under the name amir alexander and the pseudonym guerrilla soul! this cat strives to bring a raw and gritty modern spin on classic detroit, chicago, and new york underground sounds.
